History
Built around 1850. Under landlord Arthur Gosling it became famous for its cheese and pâté lunches, and was in the Guardian Food Guide by 1988.
In April 1994 a fire tore through the bar. The porcelain spirit vats survived, and Marston's had the pub restored by the end of May. Its beer once came from Taylor's Eagle Brewery, which also owned The Station.
